We Bernie Sanders supporters have been dogged by opponents who think they know what Socialism means to Bernie, and then they proceed to mock it as if he's something akin to Lenin or Mao. We know better, but we haven't had a good answer. I'd like to suggest we use this:
"Democratic Socialism" and "Libertarianism" are political schools of thought, not economic systems. Both use capitalism, but Social Democrats don't leave the least among us to rot.
The phrase "the least among us" is meant to be a dog whistle that activates the right-wing brain into its full-on Bible mode, and then the word "rot" is meant to be a slap in the face for not acting appropriately in that mode.
When I use this answer on Facebook with my Bernie-mocking friends, they immediatey stop the mockery and get all defensive because they know deep down in their hearts that Libertarianism really does leave the least among us to rot, and they don't like being associated with that.
It's an answer that gives me an opening to reach them with Bernie's issues that he's actually running on, rather than being at the receiving end of a Hate Radio/Faux News minion's mockery.
