In a diary written by MBNYC on August 16 of 2015, I wrote a comment that got hide rated into oblivion for the first and only time in my ten years as a part of this community.
Most disappointingly, a lot of people here whom I have met personally at Netroots Nation conventions and at meetups in New York City and whom I respect greatly also jumped on the bandwagon.
Well, I knew I would be vindicated in time, and now that time has come…
The title of MBNYC's diary was: "I'm going with the best choice: Hillary." It was a perfectly fine diary except for the fact that I seriously disagreed with it.
In my doomed-to-be-hidden comment, I wrote in response to MBNYC's title:
Except for the fact that she's a felon… ...or at least, she has made felonious decisions about her private email server, she's just peachy as a candidate.
Seriously, if she's our party's nominee next year, we'll lose the White House AND the Supreme Court. Sorry, no sale.
In email, Hillary Clinton tells aide to send talking points "nonsecure"
But in one email exchange between Clinton and staffer Jake Sullivan from June 17, 2011, the then-secretary advised her aide on sending a set of talking points by email when he had trouble sending them through secure means.
Part of the exchange is redacted, so the context of the emails is unknown, but at one point, Sullivan tells Clinton that aides "say they've had issues sending secure fax. They're working on it."
Clinton responds, "If they can't, turn into nonpaper w no identifying heading and send nonsecure."
Oh… My… God…
Hillary ordered her aide to SCRUB CLASSIFIED EMAIL OF ITS IDENTIFYING HEADING!!!
Now IANAL, but from everything I know about protecting classified information, directing another person to send known-sensitive information over a "nonsecure" channel is about as grave a mishandling felony as one can commit.
Hillary Clinton MUST NOT be our party's nominee. I reiterate from last August:
Seriously, if she's our party's nominee next year, we'll lose the White House AND the Supreme Court. Sorry, no sale.
Oh, I almost forgot... I really do think that a lot of people here who hide rated me last August owe me a serious apology. I was right then. I'm still right. I knew I was speaking truth-to-power here and that the result would likely be unpleasant. Nevertheless, an apology would be in order.
